(1) Most of the main drives of rapier looms have adopted independent frequency conversion speed regulation technology, that is, the main motor is a variable frequency motor. The main models that adopt this technology include rapier looms such as Dornier’s HTVS8/S and Sulzer’s G6300. The main features of this technology: ① It is no longer necessary to replace the pulley to change the speed of the loom. Instead, it is set by the computer and controlled by frequency conversion. The main machine realizes stepless speed change, with a large speed range and easy operation. ② It can meet the requirements of different weft yarn strengths, implement variable speed during the operation of the loom, and improve the weaving efficiency. (2) The Gamma rapier loom launched by Picanol is equipped with a switched reluctance motor. This motor is controlled by a driver composed of power electronic technology, and its performance is particularly suitable for the process requirements of the loom. The main features of this technology: ① The switched reluctance motor directly drives the loom, and the main drive belt and main clutch are cancelled. The slow automatic weft seeking motor is also cancelled. The corresponding functions are completed by the switched reluctance motor, and the main engine transmission chain is simplified. ② Due to the reduction of leisure parts and wearing parts, the machine material consumption is reduced and maintenance is convenient. ③ Compared with clutches and brakes, this technology can save 10% energy. ④The switched reluctance motor has a large starting torque, and the parameters for starting and stopping can be set by the computer, thus ensuring the quality of the fabric. ⑤ The speed of the loom can be set by the computer, with a wide speed adjustment range. The speed can be changed online synchronously according to the count and strength of the weft yarn, thus greatly improving the production efficiency. (3) Benda adopts D.D (direct drive) motor speed change, which is a variable reluctance motor. (4) Shumate’s ALPHA machine adopts brushless direct motor speed change, which is called HIDRIVE.
